Maninjau Lake is one of the lakes located in the Province of West Sumatra, this lake is one example of the lake that has a multifunction that is as power plants (hydropower), fishing activities (business floating cage / cage and fishing), tourism activities, irrigation, and others. In the Year 2008 Maninjau Lake Limonology study conducted with an emphasis on some basic issues such as sulfur biogeochemical processes occurring in the lake, continued monitoring of chemical parameters, physical and aquatic biology, and the efforts of domestication and development of native fishes of Lake Maninjau.

Research carried out by means of surveys (primary data) and secondary data collection. The results of several parameters show conditions in the waters of Lake Maninjau eutrophik mild conditions. Areas that have a cage culture activity to be seen the condition of the quality of waters, because the pressure will increase with the increased activity cage.
